Last weekend’s P J O’Shea Stakes quinella Single Gaze and Rudy are set to clash again in the Group 2 $300,000 Evergreen Turf Brisbane Cup (2200m) at Doomben on Saturday.

The Helen Page trained Rudy will meet Single Gaze 2.5kg better after finishing one and a quarter lengths behind the Nick Olive trained mare in the Group 2 $200,000 Pages Event Equipment Hire P J O’Shea Stakes (2200m) at Doomben last Saturday.

Both stayers have drawn poorly in the Brisbane Cup with Single Gaze coming up with the outside gate in the fourteen horse field while Rudy is not much better at barrier twelve.

Kathy O’Hara will be aboard the four year old mare again after riding her in all four Winter Racing Carnival races to date and rates her as her all-time favourite horse.

“She is my all-time favourite,” O’Hara said.

“She gives her all on the racetrack.

The pair combined for a win in the Listed $100,000 Tails Stakes (1600m) at Doomben on April 22, a second in the Group 2 $358,000 A.D. Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast on May 6 and a sixth in the Group 1 $650,000 Doomben Cup (2000m) at Doomben on May 20 prior to the P J O’Shea Stakes win.

Rudy has already clashed with Single Gaze on three occasions during the Carnival and also finished behind her when fifth in the A.D. Hollindale Stakes but did beat her home when third to Sense Of Occasion in the Doomben Cup.

Hugh Bowman takes over the reins on Rudy in the Brisbane Cup, replacing Tim Clark who has been aboard the six year old at his last two starts.

Betting for the Brisbane Cup at Ladbrokes.com.au has Single Gaze as the $5.50 second favourite behind the Darren Weir trained Neverland at $4.80 while Rudy is marked at the handy odds of $10.

Former Perth trained stayer Neverland has had one run in Queensland for a fifth to $61 winner Kaiser Franz in the Group 3 $125,000 Channel Seven Premier’s Cup (2200m) at Eagle Farm on May 27.
