Singapore Group 1 Placegetter Clear for Australian Debut

A horse with international Group 1 credentials will add some extra intrigue to Saturday’s Moonee Valley program.

Former Singapore galloper, Clear For Action, is set to make his Australian debut for Mornington trainer Jim Conlan in The Peak 0-89 Handicap (1200m).

It will be the first time the rising six-year-old has been seen on raceday since running second in the Group 1 Raffles Cup at Kranji in October 2011.

By Commands from Petal Power, Clear For Action has three career victories and has recorded five minor placings from nine starts.

In addition to his Raffles Cup runner-up, the lightly-raced galloper also took second place at Group 1 level in the 2011 Singapore Guineas and the Kranji Mile.

Clear For Action will carry the equal topweight of 60kg when he jumps from the inside barrier on Saturday. Joining him in being asked to carry the hefty impost are Shadowfax and Alpha Proxima.

Also adding some class to the “off season” meeting at Moonee Valley is potential Caulfield Cup-bound stayer Mr O’Ceirin who will carry the 60kg topweight  in the Dominant Handicap (2040m).

The Ciaron Maher-trained gelding was second in the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes during the spring and was last seen dishing out a 3 1/2 length hiding in the Printhouse Graphics Handicap at Moonee Valley on June 15.

Another stayer with serious spring ambitions running at Moonee Valley is rising seven-year-old mare Exceptionally who will contest the Dominant Travis Harrison Cup (1600m).

The daughter of Ekraar is yet to succeed at black-type level but is a multiple Group 2 placegetter including in last spring’s Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes and Group 2 Zipping Classic.

In the Simpson Construction Handicap (1200m), for three-year-old fillies, exciting talent She Can Skate will chase a third straight win after winning the Listed Creswick Stakes at Flemington earlier this month.
