Trainer Roger James has revealed that Silent Achiever is likely to have what could be the final race start of her career in the 2015 Doomben Cup this weekend.

The future of Silent Achiever was left up in the air after she failed to fire in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast on April 25 and the talented mare suffered a colic attack when she made the trip back to Brisbane following the race – although James refused to blame the colic attack for Silent Achiever’s poor performance.

James revealed last week that Silent Achiever had taken no long-term harm from the colic attack and he told the New Zealand Racing Desk that she had impressed in trackwork at Doomben this morning and she is likely to take her place in the 2015 Doomben Cup field this weekend.

“She disappointed me at the Gold Coast and I’ve been looking for reasons why and can’t find one, apart from the colic,” James said.

“I couldn’t fault her work and the way she recovered afterwards – she went very well over a mile at Doomben and finished off nicely.”

A trip to Europe for the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (2400m) in France in October was on the agenda for Silent Achiever at the start of her 2015 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign, but the O’Reilly mare is now likely to be sent to Europe only for breeding purposes after she failed to record a win this preparation.

Silent Achiever started her autumn campaign with credible performances in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick on February 14 and the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Warwick Farm on February 28, but she was unable to defend her title in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 21 and she produced a flat performance when sixth in the Group 1 The BMW (2400m).

The six-year-old was well-backed in the lead-up to the Hollindale Stakes, but she was never able to get into the race and she could only battle to the line to finish eighth.

Silent Achiever is currently available at 2015 Doomben Cup odds of $9 with Ladbrokes and she is on the fourth line of betting behind Toowoomba Cup winner Pornichet ($4.60), Doomben Cup winner Leebaz ($5) and Chris Waller-trained I’m Imposing ($6).
