Two year old filly Showpero will be chasing a hat trick of wins against the older horses when she lines up in the Listed $100,000 Lightning Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

The Lightning Stakes is for two and three year olds and Showpero will be taking on the older horses after two wins at Morphettville Parks against her own age twice over 1000m on May 28 and July 9.
Showpero is also nominated for a two year race at Caulfield on Saturday but trainer David Jolly intends to start the Kaphero filly on her home track at Morphettville.
“Given the weight concession she’s going to have and it’s in her backyard and being a filly with the black type available, we’ll run here,” Jolly told Racenet.
“It’s hard to know the strength of the form coming up against these three-year-olds but I think from what we’ve seen, she ticks a few boxes for Saturday.”
The Tony McEvoy trained Manuel was runner up to Showpero at Morphettville Parks and Jolly was surprised his filly won so easily.
“I was probably expecting that horse (Manuel) to beat us but she beat him quite soundly,” Jolly said.
Jolly said that he thought that Showpero still had some improvement left in her and he will have her peaking on Saturday.
“I thought I had her a little bit underdone because we were probably looking at this race (the Lightning Stakes) as more her grand final,” Jolly said.
“After that race she had an easy jumpout the following week and she had a gallop on Monday morning so she’s right to go so we’ll just keep her ticking over until Saturday.
“She had a gallop yesterday at Strathalbyn. We galloped her Monday just in case she went to Melbourne and I just wanted the extra day up my sleeve.”
Leading Adelaide jockey Jason Holder has been aboard Showpero in her two wins to date but lightweight jockey Jamie Kah takes over with the filly only having to carry 52kg in the set weights race.
Showpero has won from the front in her only two starts and will have no trouble adopting the same tactics after drawing barrier one in the sixteen horses field.
