The 2016 Caulfield Cup form guide can be difficult reading for non-experience punters that are just keen to find the Caulfield Cup winner, so we have done all the hard work and put together this simply for assessment of all 16 runners left in the Group 1 race.

Preferment – Preferment has recorded four wins at the highest level of racing, but he has not raced at his best this preparation. He needs to improve significantly on his Turnbull Stakes performance to turn-the-tables on the likes of Jameka.
Our Ivanhowe – Our Ivanhowe finished a gallant third in the Caulfield Cup last year and is back for another crack at the race. He has issues with his feet, but he would be right in this race on his best form.
Exospheric – Exospheric has joined Team Freedman since he arrived in Australia and will be ridden by multiple-time Caulfield Cup winner Damien Oliver. He has form around some of the best horses in the world, but he is a mentally immature horse.
Scottish – Scottish is set to make his Group 1 debut in the 2016 Caulfield Cup. He will put himself right on the speed in the early stages of the race and he looks the pick of the international runners.
Update: Scottish has been one of the best-backed runners in 2016 Caulfield Cup betting markets and he is now into $6.50 to deliver Godolphin their second victory in the feature event.
Sir Isaac Newton – Sir Isaac Newton is trained by Aidan O’Brien and was recently purchased by the Macedon Lodge team of Lloyd Williams. He is another horse that has excellent form, but consistency is the issues.
Tarzino – Tarzino has been scratched from the 2016 Caulfield Cup due to swelling in his left front.
Almoonqith – Almoonqith won the Geelong Cup in most impressive fashion just over 12 months ago, but he has failed to fire this preparation. He is racing like a horse that has had enough.
Sir John Hawkwood – Sir John Hawkwood has developed into an ultra-consistent stayer and he produced the best performance of his career to win The Metropolitan last start. There is no reason why he won’t be right in this race and there is genuine value at his current price.
Articus – Articus is raced by the same connections as 2014 Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist. There is not a great deal of substance to his form in Germany and he looks well under the odds at his current Caulfield Cup quote.
Tally – Tally will go into the Caulfield Cup on a more than credible third place finish behind Hartnell and Jameka in the Turnbull Stakes. He has been a big drifter since the Caulfield Cup barrier draw and he will need plenty of luck from that alley.
Jameka – Jameka remains a dominant favourite in Caulfield Cup betting. Her lead-up form has been nothing short of outstanding and she now maps to get a nice run in transit. She is clearly the horse to beat.
Update: Jameka has been a slight drifter in Caulfield Cup betting markets and she is now out to $3.80 to record the biggest win of her racing career to date.
Real Love – Real Love is Darren Weir’s first-ever runner in the Caulfield Cup. Her last start victory in the JRA Cup was excellent, but before that she was no match for Jameka in the Naturalism Stakes.
Set Square – Set Square has been scratched from the 2016 Caulfield Cup after trainer Ciaron Maher found her in stiff in behind this morning.
Big Memory – Big Memory has also been scratched from the 2016 Caulfield Cup due to a hock injury.
Sacred Master – Sacred Master has been the best-backed runner in Caulfield Cup betting and a clear market mover with Ladbrokes. There was plenty to like about his performance in The Metropolitan and he is a genuine light-weight chance.
Fanatic – Fanatic has been scratched from the 2016 Caulfield Cup due to a spider bite.
Pemberley – Pemberley will be ridden by star apprentice Ben Allen. He found the line strongly in the Herbert Power Stakes, but there has to be genuine question marks over the form coming out of that race.
Go Dreaming – This is a huge step-up in class for Go Dreaming. He found the line fairly in the JRA Cup, but this is a whole new level of competition.
De Little Engine – De Little Engine has been well-support in Caulfield Cup betting since he gained a start in the race. He is a genuine stayer that can finish in the first half of the field, but it is tough to see him winning.
Vengeur Masque – The French import has been backed from $301 into $101. He is a horse with plenty of upside, but this looks a very tough assignment at this stage of his racing career.
