Shez A Sinsational QLD Oaks Chance

With the New Zealand fillies looking like they’ll dominate the Queensland Oaks trainer Allan Sharrock has had plenty of attention since arriving in Australia.

His filly Shez Sinsational has been tipped as the one to bring down compatriot and hot favourite Scarlett Lady.

Things couldn’t have gone better during the trip across the Tasman and Sharrock is expecting big things at Eagle Farm tomorrow afternoon.

“Everything’s gone very very well, we’ve had no problems everything’s gone smooth as,” he said.

She had her final gallop this morning and it all appears spot on for her to give it a real tilt on Saturday.

“She relaxed entirely through the gallop probably just picking up the  bit near the line,” Sharrock said.

He’s gambling on a belief he has that New Zealand horses always put in their best run when they are first up in Australia.

It’s something we saw earlier in the year occur with Jimmy Choux and Sharrock is hoping to replicate that in the Oaks.

“I was always going to go straight into the Oaks, i have a theory that the first run in Oz is always your best,” he said.

The Eagle Farm surface is expecting to help her causes even further and a Dead rating would be perfect.

“The track will present very well on Saturday, she loves that sort of ground so it’s another positive for us,” he said.

Also working in their favour was drawing barrier two although Sharrock says she’s a very versatile horse anyway.

“She can race anywhere depending on the speed of the race, it’s probably better to be a bit handier when the kick comes into the race,” he said.

“She’s got a huge kick.”

He’s wary of Australian staying races not always having a blistering early speed so he doesn’t want to be too far away at the turn.

If jockey Opie Bosson can get her into the right alley on the straight though he has no doubt she’ll be hard to beat.

“She is a good filly and she has the record on the board, I’m probably the unknown (as opposed to Scarlett Lady),” he said.

“We’ll be there when the whips are cracking.”
