She Will Reign ($4.40) denied the race night on pace bias to come from second last at the 800m to circle the field and claim a nose victory in the Group 1 $500,000 Charter Keck Cramer Moir Stakes (1000m).

The Lloyd Kennewell trained Viddora ($31) also ran home for second while the early leader Sheidel ($9) fought on extremely well in the straight to hold down third spot.

Winning trainer Gary Portelli was very happy that She Will Reign has returned as a three year old with the same form that saw her win the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill during the 2017 Sydney Autumn Carnival as a two year old.

She Will Reign has now firmed into $5.50 second favourite for The Everest behind Chautauqua at $4.60 at Ladbrokes.com.au and Portelli can’t wait for game day.

“Bring on the Everest. Bring it on,” Portelli said.

“She’s the real deal.

“The question mark was there for us. I didn’t know where we stood as far as the pecking order goes.

“We were hoping she was the real deal and she’s proven it tonight. That was an amazing run.”

“She knows how to win.”

Winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy said that She Will Reign wasn’t completely at home at her first attempt on the Moonee Valley circuit which put more merit into her win.

“She’s only really balanced up for that last furlong and got going,” McEvoy said.

“It was a super effort by a very smart horse.”

McEvoy will have to relinquish the ride on She Will Reign in The Everest as he is booked to ride the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Redzel with Portelli still searching for a jockey to ride the filly at 51kg under the weight for age conditions.
