Seguro Out To Settle The Score In Provincial Plate

Seguro will have a chance to make up for his disappointing defeat at Bendigo last Saturday when he runs in this weekend’s $100,000 David Bourke Provincial Plate at Flemington.

Trainer Brian Jenkins has chosen to back Seguro up quickly after he finished second as top weight in what was an unlucky finish.

“He was a bit unlucky as he didn’t get out until it was too late,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins is confident that while it is a jump up in grade, Seguro will be in with a good winning chance in Saturday’s race.

“He’s been a bit immature but he did a good job under a big weight at Bendigo and (the Provincial Plate) might suit him,” Jenkins said.

Seguro, who has won two of his 14 race starts, will be looking for his first win at Flemington Racecourse.

The trainer is also excited about the prospects of Venus World, who finished second to Mid Summer Music at Moonee Valley last weekend.

Jenkins is currently preparing her for what he hopes will be a successful spring campaign.

“I’ll give her two or three weeks in the paddock and set her for the spring,” Jenkins said.

“It’s all about getting some black-type on the page for the mares.

“I’ll run her next in the Cockram Stakes.”
