Secret Agenda Up To The Task In Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude

Mick Price admits that Fontiton is the horse to beat in the 2015 Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude, but the leading trainer believes that his talented filly Secret Agenda is up to the task in the Group 2 event at Caulfield tomorrow.

Secret Agenda made her racing debut with a dominant three and a half lengths win in the CRT Whites Plate (1000m) at Moonee Valley on December 12 and she has since performed impressively in two jump outs.

Price told Racing Ahead that he is thrilled with Secret Agenda ahead of the Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude and he is confident that she can stamp herself as a leading contender for the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) with a win this weekend.

“She is great and she has drawn a good gate,” Price said.

“I think that she has improved from Moonee Valley.

“She didn’t need a break after Moonee Valley, but she improved from it and she just grew that little bit and put on a bit of weight.

“She had a couple of trials and went really well and she is a bit more professional racehorse having trialed and raced.

“I think that she will be right in the finish and I think that she is good enough to win.

“I suppose Fontiton is the measuring stick and we will just see what happens there.”

Secret Agenda led from the start when she won at Moonee Valley on debut and showed plenty of early speed, but Price revealed that he does not want to see the Not A Single Doubt filly lead in the early stages of the Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude this weekend.

Price believes that Secret Agenda has the speed required to take up the running, but he said that he would like to see the filly take a sit because that gives her the best possible chance to take out the Blue Diamond Stakes in a fortnights time.

“She could lead, but I have spoken to Damien (Oliver) a couple of times and to win a Blue Diamond I think we need a more typical D Oliver ride, which is to just ride a race on them,” Price said.

“That is what I am picturing and it will be up to him, but it would be nice to see a bit of speed in front of her and she can take a little sit to give her an opportunity to hit the line.

“I think that it will help her going into a Blue Diamond in a couple of weeks’ time.”

Secret Agenda is currently available at 2015 Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude odds of $3.10 with Ladbrokes and is on the second line of betting behind Fontiton ($2.60).
