Scone To Deliver A Rare Autumn ‘Good 3’

In a somewhat rare event during the Autumn racing season in 2011 the Scone two-day carnival could be run across a Good rated track.

Weather has hounded metropolitan race meeting all year with the majority of Sydney Group 1 features run across slow or heavy rated tracks.

According to Reto Cadelbet, track manager at Scone Racing Club, there’s no chance of the same occurring this weekend.

Palacio De Cristal

The expected good rating for the Scone track will be welcome news for Palacio De Cristal

“It’ll be a good (3) for sure, even if we get a couple of mils of rain it won’t change,” Cadelbet said.

“There has been seven metres of new turf laid on the rail and the grass coverage is great.”

That’s fantastic news for runners which have had no luck with the weather all year.

Palacio De Cristal is probably the best example of a horse which was in good form all season but just couldn’t find a track dry enough to show her true ability.

This news will make her connections very happy as she prepares for a start in the carnival later this week.

The good news about the weather will also ensure that the crowds arrive for the richest country racing carnival held in Australia.

The weather bureau is predicting clear skies with barely a hint of cloud leading right through to Saturday.
