Country racing will once again be thrown into the spotlight tomorrow when the Scone two day racing carnival kicks off with a bag of quality nominations.

Nearly every race boasts a capacity field with more than a few Group winners dotted throughout the entries.

Helen Sinclair CEO at Scone says that despite the chilly temperatures everything is perfect leading into the meeting.

The track will deliver some much needed to relief to horses which have been plagued all year by wet surfaces.

“We’re looking at a Good 3 track, we had a couple of millimetres of rain from a storm overnight which has just settled everything down, it’ll be perfect for tomorrow, ” she said.

Scone has always provided punters with the best country racing and the metro horses should feel right at home on the expansive circuit.

“It’s a very wide track and there’s no incline on the main straight, ” She said.

“Everyone has a chance no matter where they place and the barriers aren’t that much of a disadvantage either.”

Racing at Doomben

Meanwhile, up in Queensland track manager at Doomben Bill Shuck is just as pleased with how his surface is progressing even though the rating will be far different.

The wet weather has finally cleared in recent weeks meaning the track can finally start to dry out a bit.

“We’re very pleased, we were a little disappointed earlier in the week when we had some wet weather but it’s improving out of sight every day,” He said.

“We’ll be back to at least a Dead 4, maybe even a bit better than that.”

The track is currently sitting on a Dead 5 and with sunshine predicted over the next few days things can only get better form here.

“It’s been a bit cool the last few days which has helped the ground tighten up, it’s going really well and we’re pleased with it,” He said.

“God’s a racing fan, it’s going to be great.”
