Schofield Officially Off The List For BTC Cup Ride

Jockey Glyn Schofield is unable to ride Hay List in the BTC Cup due to injury

Despite his best efforts regular jockey Glyn Schofield will be unable to ride Hay List in next weekend’s $400,000 BTC Cup due to his recently sustained broken collarbone.

The top jockey had been hoping his collarbone would have healed in time for the next showdown between Hay List and Black Caviar in Brisbane on May 14.

Schofield is now hoping to be back in the saddle for a Rosehill meeting the weekend after.

”I’m due to see Dr Duckworth, who is unbelievable, on Monday week and if all is good I’ll start riding trackwork,” Schofield said.

”I’ll look to ride at the Rosehill meeting on the 21st.”

The jockey suffered his injury on Chris Waller’s Hawk Island who fell in the Sydney Cup last month.

While Schofield will miss another ride on Hay List, his recovery has been remarkably quicker than anticipated.

”I had a sling on for the first couple of days and then took it off,” Schofield said.

”At the moment I’m not doing anything, just resting up, but it feels stable with the plate in there.”

Hay List’s trainer John McNair will now have to decide which jockey to give the valuable ride to.

McNair has currently narrowed it down to two jockeys; Chris Munce and Glen Boss.

“I’m probably leaning slightly to Glen Boss but there is no rush to make a decision,” McNair said.
