Schofield new rider for King Saul

Glyn Schofield

Jockey Glyn Schofield will take the ride on WA Guineas winner King Saul in the Kingston Town Classic

Sydney based jockey Glyn Schofield has secured the ride on WA Guineas winner King Saul  in the G1 $500,000 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at Ascoton Saturday week.

Schofield was contacted by connections .and is happy to take up the ride vacated by Craig Williams.

“He is going to have a light weight being a three-year-old taking on the older horses at weight-for-age, but I’ve got a bit of notice and am more than happy to get down and ride him,” Schofield said.

“I’ve never been to Perth before, so it is always good to get away and see a new part of the world.”

Williams has taken up a six week contract to ride in Japan and won’t been seen back in Australia until the Magic Millions carnival on the Gold Coast in the New Year.

King Saul has three wins from four starts and is third pick with TAB Sportsbet at $4 behind Luckygray ($3.20) and Ranger ($3.80).

Schofield is currently third on Sydney premiership just two  wins behind Kerrin McEvoy.

The former South African has kind hands on a horse, much like Williams who balanced King Saul in the straight before asking for an effort when winning the Guineas on Saturday.
