Samaready to step up to WFA after a winning comeback at Caulfield

Trainer Mick Price will step Blue Diamond winner Samaready up to weight for age company after a winning comeback in the Group 3 $135,000 The Shark.com.au Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield today.

Samaready was having her first start for twelve months and showed Price that she had recovered from a muscle injury that had keep her on the sidelines for the past year.

Price has picked out the  Group 2 $175,000 Mitty’s McEwen Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley on September 14 and the Group 1 $450,000 A. J.  Moir Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on September 27 as Samaready’s next two targets.

“I would like to chase those weight for age races at Moonee Valley with her,” Price said.

“There’s one in two weeks and there’s the Moir in a couple of weeks after that. She’s a Group 1 winner. There’s Group 1 race at Moonee Valley in four weeks time.”

Winning jockey Craig Neweitt rode a patience race on Samaready ($5.50 favourite) and settled her fourth with Chiaramonte and Hadronica matching motors out in front.

Newitt balanced Samaready once heads were turned for home and once he asked her for the final effort, she moved away to score a comfortable win over stablemates Chiaramonte ($9) and Anise ($17).

Samadready will only strip a much fitter racehorse at her next run and is a force to be reckoned with when she steps out in the Spring.
