Samaready to run favourite in Blue Diamond

The Mick Price trained filly Samaready stamped her place as the new Blue Diamond favourite with a dominating victory at Caulfield today.

Samaready ($4.20 fav) with jockey Craig Newitt aboard careered away in the straight to score by three and a quarter lengths over Formidable and Sweetener in the Group 3 $125,000 Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Prelude over 1100m.

“She was three deep out on a limb and toed up to them and then went away very easily,” Newitt said.

“All she wants to do this preparation is relax and travel and come Blue Diamond day she’ll be one hundred and ten percent.”

Price was impressed with the way the More Than Ready filly hit the line and is sure there is some improvement left in her for the Group 1 $1m Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield in a fortnight.

“I think the margin, the time and the way she found that extra gear points very nicely for the 1200m for her,” Price said.

Samaready’s time of 1.3.38 was marginally quicker than General Rippa’s 1.4.15 and she looks to have the boys covered.

Price said Samaready impressed with a solid gallop early in the week which gave him confidence going into today’s race and added that with today’s run under her belt will be cherry ripe for the Blue Diamond.
