Samaready gives Price hope for Spring return

A slashing trial win by Samaready at Caulfield this morning gave trainer Mick Price plenty of hope that the 2012 Blue Diamond winner is on the way back to her best.

Samaready hasn’t been to the races for twelve months since finishing fourth to Elite Elle in the Listed $120,000 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield because of injury and Price was happy to see a glimpse of her two year old form.

“She wasn’t asked to do a lot in the heavy going but she still won her trial by several lengths and went very nicely,” Price told Racing Network.

“I was really happy with her and now she will go to the Group 3 race over 1100 metres at Caulfield on August 31 first-up, with C. Newitt aboard.”

Leading Melbourne jockey Craig Newitt has been on Samaready at all her six race starts and will be happy to see the More Than Ready mare back in action in the Group 3 $135,000 The Heath (1100m) at Caulfield on August 31.

The pair combined to take out the 2012 Group 1 $1m Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield before being sent out as favourite for the Group 1 $3.5m AAMI Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill.

Samaready ran a mighty race to finished third to Gai Waterhouse’s superstar Pierro and if she can regain her two year old form will be a force to contend with over the Spring Carnival.
