Superstar filly Samaready has drawn barrier 11 for Saturday’s $3.5 million Golden Slipper which will take place at Sydney’s Rosehill Gardens.

The unbeaten Mick Price-trained horse became outright favourite to win the world’s richest two-year-old race this morning following the withdrawal of Black Caviar’s half brother All Too Hard.

Prior to the draw, Price was hoping for a barrier between three and eight but was not unhappy with the result.

He said the draw would not worry the filly who he expects to run mid-field before making a charge at the top of the straight.

Samaready exists as the horse to beat in the prized event and Price admitted he was relieved when the Nathan Tinkler owned All Too Hard was ruled out.

“I said thank you Nathan [Tinkler],” Price said.

“It would have been an interesting race with him in it.”

Lohnro colt Pierro, who today became second favourite, will run from the inside barrier on Saturday.

The unbeaten Gai Waterhouse–trained colt stands as the top challenger to Samaready and will be ridden by regular jockey Nash Rawiller.

Highly-rated Queensland horse Doubtfilly has received a plum barrier six draw and is coming off a fourth-place effort in the Magic Night Stakes.

She will run one barrier outside the horse that finished second in that race, Cavalry Rose, and one inside Snitzerland (7) who was previously unbeaten before running fourth to Samaready in the Reisling Stakes.

The chances of last-start winner Jade Marauder continuing his run of form received a blow when the Fastnet Rock Colt drew the outside barrier (16).

Trainer Chris Waller said luck was always needed to win big horse races but admitted the filly would require more than most.

“Our filly came from last last start to win, admittedly against a weaker field,” he said.

“Every horse will need some luck and we just need a little bit extra.”
