Sales bound Miss Cover Girl among Glenlogan Park Stakes nominations

Group 1 winning mare Miss Cover Girl  is among the nominations for the Group 3 $150,000 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday, her last race start before heading to the broodmare sale at the Gold Coast at the end of the month.

Trainer Kelly Schweida is hoping to send Miss Cover Girl out a winner before she steps into the sale ring at the 2017 Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale on Tuesday May 30.

“It would be lovely to send her out a winner. No matter what happens she will be worth a bit as a broodmare,” Schweidaa told AAP.

“Another Group Three win would be a bonus and we do know she handles Eagle Farm which is a question over a few others.”

“There aren’t many Group One winning mares around for sale so I am sure she will bring in the high six figures or even seven figures.”

Miss Cover Girl flew the winning flag for the Eagle Farm trainer during the 2016 Brisbane Winter Carnival with her victory in the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Club Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm and she has resumed for her latest campaign with a first up third behind Music Magnate and Hopfgarten in the Group 2 $200,000 Ellyce Galvin Victory Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm April 29.

Schweida has given Miss Cover Girl a trial since her Victory Stakes run and was happy with her fifth placing in a 1000m Doomben trial on May 16.

“It was a blanket finish and she was about half a length from the winner. She is a five-year-old mare now and the time is right to send her to stud,” Schweida said.

“She raced well in Sydney and won the P J Bell Stakes there which is also good when it comes to the sales. It means she is well known interstate.”

Randwick co-trainers Peter and Paul Snowden have a strong hand in the Glenlogan Park Stakes nominations with Artistry, Nancy and the well performed Tycoon Tara.

Tycoon Tara was a two times Group 2 winner during the 2016 Sydney Spring Carnival in the $175,000 Missile Stakes (1200m) at Randwick and in the Group 2 $400,000 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill.

The Written Tycoon mare has had two runs back from a spell for a twelfth to Secret Agenda in the Group 2 $300,000 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 8 followed by a fifth to Rich Charm in the $250,000 VOBIS Gold Sprint (1200m) at Caulfield on April 22.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott looked to have a strong hand in the Glenlogan Park Stakes nominations with their two in-form fillies Miss Debutante and Prompt Response.

Miss Debutante is the winner of her last two starts in an 1100m BenchMark 72 Handicap at Canterbury on April 17 and in the Listed $150,000 Denise’s Joy Stakes (1100m) at Scone on May 13 while Prompt Return has been in the runner’s up stall in three of her last four starts, her latest being a second to Daysee Doom in the Group 3 $200,000 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at Scone on May 13.
