Sadler Seeks Out Nose Band For Sister Madly In Salinger

Sister Madly

Sister Madly will run next in the Group 2 Salinger Stakes

Sister Madly will attempt to continue her impressive spring performance when she runs in the Group 2 Salinger Stakes at Flemington this Saturday.

The five-year-old mare has enjoyed success in all of her starts this campaign, winning one and placing second in two of her three Group runs.

Trainer John Sadler, who trains the Redoute’s Choice mare in partnership with Troy Corstens under the title Malua Racing, believes the mare’s $1 million asking price was well deserved.

“She’s been a great addition to Malua Racing,” Sadler said.

“Actually she’s our flag bearer at the moment.

“Right from day one she settled in to it well.”

Sister Madly’s recent runner-up finishes were behind impressive gallopers Sepoy and More Joyous.

“They’re pretty smart horses so we’re really pleased with the way she’s going,” Sadler said.

Despite her success, Sister Madly has had the tendency to over-race throughout her career.

“It’s something I’ve given a hell of a lot of thought to obviously… getting inside her head,” Sadler said.

The trainer has decided to fit the mare with a cotton nose band for Saturday’s Salinger Stakes in the hope of alleviating the problem.

“It (the nose band) restricts them every time they want to go,” he said.

“The whole idea of it is we’re trying to get her to relax.

“It seems to be having a positive effect on her in her slow work.

“If it has the same effect on her in the race we’ll be really pleased.”
