Caulfield trainer John Sadler is hoping Glen Boss will be fit to ride at Flemington tomorrow after the premiership rider injured his foot in a barrier mishap at the jump outs on Friday morning.

Boss is booked to ride three for Sadler’s runners and is confident he will get to the races even though he chipped a bone in his foot at the Flemington jump outs.
The multiple Group 1 winning jockey was cleared of a broken ankle after x-rays and expects to ride Saddler’s three, Charmed Harmony, Henwood and Reckless Assassin as well as Zebulon for Peter Morgan and Craig Widdison and Doubtfilly for Danny O’Brien.
“The X-ray was fine but I’ve just got to have a precautionary scan to make sure there’s no soft tissue damage,” Boss told Racing Victoria News.
“There’s a bit of swelling on the foot but thankfully it’s pretty good news all things considered and it looks like I’ll be right for tomorrow.
“I can’t do any further damage because the chip is just sitting there. Initially I thought it was broken but it actually feels quite good now.”
Sadler feels that Henwood, a $7 chance with Ladbrokes.com.au, won’t be far off his peak when he lines up on Saturday in the VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Heat 6 (1410m) after working strongly since his last start fifth to Tried And Tired in the VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Heat 3 (1400m) at Flemington on June 14.
“Bossy rode him last Thursday morning and said he’s one run away from being cherry ripe and Tom rode him yesterday morning and said he’s nearly there,” Sadler said.
“We set him for the (Winter Championship) final, so I tried to have him not too forward and I’d be disappointed if he’s not placed.”
The Listed $150,000 Winter Championship Series Final over 1600m will be run at Flemington on July 12.
Boss takes over from Tom Sadler on Charmed Harmony who has been installed the short priced $1.95 favourite for the David Bourke Provincial Plate (1610m) after scoring by eight lengths in a midweek BenchMark70 Handicap over 1400m at Sandown on June 11.
But Boss did get a good feel of the four year old gelding when the pair combined for a win the start before over 1400m in a BenchMark78 at Bendigo on May 22.
“He has been in a long time, a hell of a long time, and you’d think he’s got to be close to having had enough but he’s shown absolutely no signs at the stable that he’s finished as yet,” Sadler said.
“So hopefully we get one more out of him and it’s a win.
“He’s well-placed in the race. For a horse that’s going through his classes, it looks a nice race for him.
“He’s rated 77 and he’s meeting a lot of horses that are rated under that and meeting them at pretty much the same weight and he’s getting weight from the horses above him that he should be getting so he looks well in.”
While Reckless Assassin is a $21 chance in the Leilani Series Heat 4 (1410m) with Sadler expecting the four year old mare to benefit greatly from the run.
