Lion Tamer

2010 Victoria Derby winner Lion Tamer

New Zealand star Lion Tamer was put down after the running of the 2011 Cox Plate.

The Murray Baker 2010 Victoria  Derby and 2011 Underwood Stakes winner broke his near hind leg during the running of the race.

The son of Storming Home and Lioness settled outside leader Helmet in the race but coming into the straight dropped off.

It was noticeable something had gone amiss near the 100m and Lion Tamer dropped out to finish last.

Champion trainer Peter Moody offered his condolences after hearing the news.

“Condolences to the connections of Lion Tamer devastating to lose him just one week out of the anniversary of his Victoria Derby win”
