Exciting colt Rubick has arrived in Melbourne in excellent condition ahead of his Group racing debut in the Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) at Caulfield this weekend.

Rubick travelled from Sydney to Melbourne overnight and trainer Gerald Ryan told TVN this morning that the Blue Diamond Stakes favourite had no problems during the lengthy trip down south.
“He left last night and he was here at about four o’clock this morning,” Ryan said.
“Sterling texted me at about twenty past five and said that he was eating a biscuit of hay and into his feed already, so I said feed him again.
“He has copped it good.”
Rubick made his racing debut with a comfortable three lengths victory in the TAB IPhone App Plate (1000m) at Royal Randwick on January 25 and according to Ryan pulled up extremely well from the impressive win.
The Encosta De Lago colt worked strongly at Rosehill Gardens yesterday and Ryan revealed that he will not have another serious piece of work before he faces a strong field in the Colts and Geldings Blue Diamond Prelude this weekend.
“He pulled up terrific; he wasn’t jaded at all,” Ryan said.
“He is bright, well and eating his feed.
“He galloped the reverse way here at Rosehill Gardens yesterday morning and worked very well.
“He will do nothing and just try to canter around down there and just get his bearings.
“Touch wood, we hope that everything that keeps going nice.”
A number of talented Sydney horses have failed to fire at their first start at the unique Caulfield track, but Ryan is not worried that Rubick will be making his debut the Melbourne way of going at the home of the Melbourne Racing Club this weekend.
“He won’t see the course proper before Saturday which doesn’t really worry me because we have done it before, coming down on a Monday night, and been successful,” Ryan said.
“He hadn’t seen Randwick before he ran there the other day and he is a pretty adaptable horse so I don’t think that it will worry him.”
Rubick ($3.10) will tighten his hold on the 2014 Blue Diamond Stakes betting market if he is successful on Saturday; with the two-year-old currently a clear favourite from Darley filly Earthquake ($4.50), Chairman’s Stakes winner Nayeli ($8) and Mark Kavanagh-trained Chivalry ($10).
