The Rosehill Gardens track has been confirmed as a dead 5 on Golden Slipper Day in what is probably an ideal outcome.

The track never looked like improving to good after rain fell on Rosehill for most of the week.

However it wasn’t heavy enough to ever really threaten a slow rating and could improve to a dead 4 by the time the $3.5 million main event jumps.

What it means is horses hoping for a dry track and those praying for sludge will meet on an even surface with every horse effectively having an even chance of victory.

The degradation of the track shouldn’t be too much of an issue either with the rail set at 4m for the entire trip.

The only thing possible of drastically changing conditions for the Golden Slipper will be an unexpected storm only Sydney could conjure.

It’s unlikely though with the showers predicted earlier in the week no considered only a 10 percent chance of occurring later in the day.

One weather element that will have an effect is the wind which is steadily increasing and could spell disaster for any horse trapped wide without cover.

Racing begins at Rosehill Gardens just before midday AEDST
