Jockey Michael Rodd expects a bold showing from Super Cool when the three year old resumes in the Group 2 $220,000 Hyland Race Colours Autumn Stakes(1400m) at Caulfield tomorrow.

The Mark Kavanagh trained Super Cool showed his class when runner up to Fiveandahalfstar in the Group 1 $1.5m AAMI Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington on November 3 but Rodd warns that his best distance will be around the 1600m to 2000m.
“I expect him to run well,” Rodd said.
“I don’t think that 2500m will be anywhere near his best trip, I think he’s going to be a better mile-2000m horse.”
“There are horses that are race fit but you can never rule out class in these sort of cases and that’s what my bloke has.”
Super Cool has coped with two jump outs very well for his return for the Autumn which will see him head to the Group 1 $750,000 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 2 after Saturday.
“He’s come back really nicely,” Rodd said.
“We weren’t quite sure where he was going to end up but as soon as the blinkers went on he jumped out of the ground.”
Kavanagh took Super Cool from a restricted class winner in mid October to winning the Group 2 $220,000 Mitchelton Wines Vase (2040m) at Moonee Valley on October 27.
The Fastnet Rock three year old then went on to run a terrific race to finish second in the Victroia Derby to Fiveandahalfstar who is also resuming in the Autumn Stakes.
Super Cool will also be coming up against Victoria Derby fourth placegetter Hvasstan and the impeccably bred High Shot.
Trainer Michael Kent has given the High Chaparral colt plenty of time to mature and put him away after winning a maiden at Cranbourne last October.
Rodd is not worried that Super Cool will settle back in the field and feels that his strong finish will put him right in the firing line at the end of the 1400m.
“He gets back over the shorter distances but he has a really good turn of foot that can put him in the finish,” Rodd said.
Premiership leading jockey Glen Boss has switched to Fiveandahalfstar for the Autumn Stakes after riding Hvasstan throughout the Spring, with Craig Williams taking over the reins on the Peter Gelagotis trained three year old.
The Peter Snowden trained Knoydart has been posted the $3.60 favourite after a very unlucky fifth at Warwick Farm as an odds on favourite.
High Shot is the second pick at $4.40 with the Peter Moody trained Mulaazem on the next line of betting at $5.
Super Cool has been marked at $8.50 with Hvasstan at $12 and Fiveandahalfstar a $17 chance.
