Kilwinning Option will be making his metropolitan debut at Eagle Farm this weekend after an impressive winning streak at his home track of Rockhampton.

The three-year-old colt has won all five of his last race starts and will be heading to Brisbane for the first time in his nine career starts.

Trainer Lyle Rowe acquired Kilwinning Option after trainer Kevin Birse was suspended after one of his horses produced a positive swab test for a prohibited substance.

“It was just a lucky win for me,” Rowe said.

“He’s a horse that just keeps on improving since I’ve had him.”

Kilwinning Option will have to contend with barrier 12 and the top weight of 59 kilograms when he contests the Hidden Dragon @ Lyndhurst on Saturday.

“He has got a fair amount of speed, whether he can cross them I don’t know,” Rowe said.

“If there’s not a lot of speed in the race he probably can.

“He doesn’t have to lead.”

The trainer is hoping the rain holds off ahead of the horse’s city test.

“If it was something like heavy (rated track) with the weight it would be a concern,” Rowe admitted.

Kilwinning Option will be ridden by jockey Ric McMahon, who will be taking over the reigns from regular jockey Ryan Wiggins.

“The people that own (the horse), they come from Muttaburra (and) they’re very good friends with Ryan Wiggins and Rick McMahon,” the trainer said.

“If he got any more than 59 I think I would have claimed (with an apprentice).”

Rowe is excited to see how the Immovable Option colt will fare up against city class sprinters.

“Since I’ve had him he’s never actually been pressured,” he said.

“I think he’ll be very hard to beat.”
