Rocket Commander and Hieroglyphics did battle for the lead in the early stages of the Wenona Girl Quality and it was Hieroglyphics that took up the running at the top of the straight.

Hieroglyphics looked as though she had the race won when she fought off Nancy and Zestful, while Rocket Commander looked as though she was going to miss the placings as she went backwards.

Rocket Commander found again at the 150 metres mark as her fitness edge paid dividends and she dove on the line to claim a very narrow victory from a game Hieroglyphics.

The daughter of Court Command started her 2017 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign with a credible sixth behind Zestful in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on February 13 and she was sent to Melbourne where she finished fifth behind Silent Sedition in the Group 3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield last weekend.

Trainer Matthew Dale is yet to reveal where Rocket Commander will have her next race start, but she has been included in the nominations for the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) that will be held at Royal Randwick on the second day of The Championships.
