Trainer Robbie Laing is still undecided what race to start So Si Bon in at Sandown on Saturday, the Zipping Classic or the Sandown Guineas.

Laing has nominated the three year old for the Group 2 $250,000 Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas (1600m) against his own age as well as entering him in the weight for age Group 2 $300,000 Zipping Classic (2400m).
So Si Bon is coming off a last start fourth to Prized Icon in the Group 1 $1.5m AAMI Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington on October 29 and Laing has reports that the So You Think colt has come through the run in great order.
But he will wait until acceptance time on Wednesday morning before making a final decision if So Si Bon will stay against his own age group in the Sandown Guineas or take on the old horses in the Zipping Classic.
“I just noticed Stevie Theodore’s horse a few years ago Count Ricardo – ran third in the Derby, and won the Classic with the pull in the weights, won pretty easily. He beat the imported gallopers,” Laing said, explaining his thought process for his colt.
“That’s the way I was thinking originally.
“Then, when there was only twelve in the Guineas, I threw in an entry. It doesn’t look like a great year.
“We’re just keeping our options open for another 24 hours.”
“He worked brilliantly and pulled up good. So he’s fit.
“All we did this morning was just run him up over 600 metres to clean his wind up.
“I’ll try and pick the race he has the best chance of winning.”
“I galloped him last Saturday and he worked terrific so I thought he might as well go to the races as stand in the paddock. He had a look at Sandown on Tuesday.”
So Si Bon has been installed as the equal favourite at $4 with the Chris Waller trained Who Shot Thebarman for the Zipping Classic at Ladbrokes.com.au while in the Sandown Guineas he is on the third line of betting at $7.
The John O’Shea trained Morton’s Fork heads the market order for the Sandown Guineas at $3.20 just ahead of Darren Weir’s unbeaten filly Jennifer Lynn at $4.80.
Laing has also nominated Missrock, Wimborne and Stornaway for the Sandown Guineas while Tristram’s Sun is also entered for the Zipping Classic.
