Rising Romance began her career under the guidance of prominent New Zealand trainer Donna Logan in the spring of 2013 and capped an impressive debut campaign with a strong win in the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) during the 2014 Autumn Carnival.

The Ekraar mare was transferred to the care of the Lindsay Park operation prior to her 2015 Spring Carnival campaign and while unlucky not to have returned to winning form through three preparations, has been placed at Group 1 level on several occasions.

Resuming this time for a close second behind Black Heart Bart in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) on August 17th, Rising Romance could only manage a mid-pack finish in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m), but ran on well for fourth in the Group 2 Stocks Stakes (1600m) last time out on September 30th.

Stocks Stakes winner Don’t Doubt Mamma is also yet to herald a great deal of interest in 2016 Myer Classic betting markets, but the multiple stakes winner remains an outright $6.50 second favourite despite drifting from opening odds of $5.50.

Don’t Doubt Mamma has been one of Tony McEvoy’s most consistent performers in 2016 and began her calendar in the best way possible when beating a smart field to the line in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) in February.

Having placed second in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) and won the Listed Redelva Stakes (1100m) before a failed tilt at the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m), the Not A Single Doubt mare took plenty of benefit from a first-up run for fifth in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m).

Don’t Doubt Mamma has since convincingly won each of the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) and Stocks Stakes, and appears primed for a successful step up to Group 1 company on Saturday.

The only runner whose 2016 Myer Classic odds have firmed noticeably so-far is the Team Hawkes-trained Euro Angel, who will carry winning form into the Group 1 race.

Euro Angel has only contested a light career as a four-year-old but is yet to finish outside the first three, having posted three wins and as many minors so far.

Returning from a freshen-up for second in the TAB Rewards BM78 (1400m) on October 3rd, the daughter of Rip Van Winkle savaged the line for a near-two length win in the Group 3 Ladies Day Vase (1600m) on October 12th.

Euro Angel opened at Myer Classic odds of $14 earlier this week, but has firmed into an $11 quote with Ladbrokes Australia.
