Rich Enuff made his first public appearance since an injury enforced lay-off to record an impressive win in a barrier trial at Cranbourne this morning.
Rich Enuff contested the second barrier trial of the morning over 800 metres and he jumped from the gates strongly before he cruised up to take up the running from Tommy’s Pride and Petite Diablesse.
Jockey Damien Oliver took Rich Enuff to the centre of the track coming around the bend and he was urged slightly by Oliver in the final stages to run away from his rivals and record an impressive win from Petite Diablesse and Griante.
Rich Enuff stamped himself as a horse to watch when he took out the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley just under 12 months ago and he went on to become a dominant favourite for the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) after he took out both the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on September 13 and the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (14000m) in impressive fashion.
The Written Tycoon colt had not luck in running in the early stages of the Caulfield Guineas and was narrowly beaten by Shooting To Win before he failed to perform at his best in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.
Rich Enuff was set to return to the races during the 2015 Melbourne Festival Of Racing, but he suffered an injury to his offside hind flexor tendon that saw him miss his entire autumn campaign.
The talented entire was cleared to return to racing for the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival and he is set to return to the races in the Group 3 The Heath 1100 (1100m) at Caulfield on August 29 before he returns to the highest level of racing in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 26.
David Brideoake-trained Griante was the other standout performer in the second barrier trial of the morning over 800 metres and she hit the line strongly in the final stages to suggest that she is ready for a big spring campaign.
Griante claimed her second win at Group level when she took out the Group 3 Wenona Girl Quality (1200m) at Royal Randwick on March 7 and she went on to finish third in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on March 27 before she was sent to the spelling paddock after she finished second in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on April 11.
Crown Oaks winner Set Square and imported galloper Trevieres both contested the second barrier trial of the morning, but were given a very easy time by Stephen Baster and Mark Zahra respectively.
