Rich Enuff showed that his last start win at Moonee Valley in the Listed $120,000 Essendon Nissan McKenzie Stakes (1200m) at big odds of $16 was no fluke and he was sent out at the shorter price of $6 today.

Keys will now step Rich Enuff up to 1400m in the Group 3 $175,000 BECK Caulfield Guineas Prelude at Caulfield on September 28 to top him for the Group 1 $1m BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield two weeks later.

Rich Enuff was having his first run up the Flemington straight and Keys was happy to see jockey Michael Rodd settling him just off the pace.

“He was able to go forward. Michael said before the race that he wasn’t go to drive him, he was going to have help up the straight for the first time,” Keys said.

“It will be very interesting to see what Michael says, but from what I saw 1400m onto the Guineas will be really good option still.”

“I think he will be ready for it, otherwise we have to stop and freshen up and you know what happens then, you have to start from scratch again, that’s for the Coolmore I mean, which still might be an option.”

“We go to the 1400m next, the Guineas Prelude and then hopefully onto the Guineas.”

Queensland three year old Looks Like The Cat ($10) was brave in defeat to get to within a neck of Rich Enuff and would have pleased Eagle Farm trainer Tony Gollan and will also head to the Caulfield Guineas.

Third placegetter Ghibellines ($31) also put in an eye catcher and made up plenty of ground from well back in the field.

The Chris Waller trained Brazen Beau ($5 favourite) raced on the pace but faded over the concluding stages to finish in fifth spot, three and three quarter lengths from the winner.
