Rewilding Overtakes So You Think Again

He beat him in the Prince Of Wales Stakes and now he’s beaten him again with Rewilding leap frogging a mountain of horses, including So You Think, in the World Thoroughbred Rankings.

He was 13th on the list when the last set of numbers were released but that one win has ranked high enough to see him move to equal third in the world on 127.

Despite not racing for nearly two months Black Caviar’s rating remains unaffected and she still sits safely on top alongside the English three-year-old Frankel.

They share the 130 rating, the highest ever achieved by an Australian horse.

Royal Ascot winner Canford Cliffs has also improved and he sits alongside Rewilding on the 127 mark after dispatching of Goldikova in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes.

What all this means for So You Think is that he’s dropped a few spots on the ladder now sitting in fifth spot.

Having said that he’s on 126, only one point adrift of the English pair.

Even though he bounced back to form on Saturday and won his first Group 1 on English soil in the Eclipse Stakes, it’s unlikely to have any drastic affect.

Phil Smith, the authorities senior handicapper said that win was once again only worth a rating of 126.

The other mover of the field was Pour Moi, the Group 1 Investec Derby winner surging up the ladder to a career high 122 off the back of that Royal Ascot triumph.

The latest instalment of the World Thoroughbred Rankings take into account the performance of horses between January 1 and June 26, 2011.
