The veteran gelding was drawn towards the outside of the classy Wayne Wilson field, but jumped well and was able to easily cross the field and take up the runner; setting only a fair tempo for his nine rivals.

Offered a clear racing line upon arriving at the final straight, the Choisir gelding kicked comfortably clear of Godolphin runner Moher; opening a gap of more than three lengths by the time he found the line and posted his twelfth career win.

Three-year-old Crack Me Up was considered an outsider in the Wayne Wilson Mile field, but produced an impressive sprint in the final 200m to hit the line second, ahead of Moher.

Jockey Hugh Bowman is favourite to win the Jockeys’ Challenge at Doomben this afternoon and was thrilled to partner Religify in his return to winning form this afternoon.

“He loves the fence and he didn’t enjoy the ground at Eagle Farm two weeks ago,” Bowman said.

“He came here today and was a lot more suited to the tight circuit too, with his style of racing.

“What a great horse he’s been for connections and it was a thoroughly enjoyable ride.”

Religify was sent for a freshen-up after he beat only one runner home in the Listed Parramatta Cup (1900m) on February 18th, but returned on the Gold Coast on May 6th to post a smart win in the Listed Prime Minister’s Cup (1400m).

Having failed to handy the heavy going when sixth in the Group 3 Lord Mayor’s Cup (1600m) in his only other start prior to his win in the Wayne Wilson Mile, the six-year-old has now won close to $700,000 in prize money, through a total of twenty-nine starts.

Crack Me Up undoubtedly produced the best performance of his campaign in running on for second, while Moher has potentially reached the end of his campaign after again fading in the late stages of the Wayne Wilson Mile.
