Rekindled Alliance Set For Soggy Spring Champion Start

Rekindled Alliance

Rekindled Alliance (blue silks) is set to start in the Spring Champion Stakes despite the slow-rated track

Trainer Paul Messara will run promising young colt Rekindled Alliance in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick tomorrow, despite the predicted slow-rated track.

Rekindled Alliance, who finished a close second last start in the Group 3 Spring Stakes, is untried over the wet ground.

“A few of the other chances do have wet form so I guess it does improve their chances,” Messara said.

“It is disappointing because the horse is spot on.

“It makes it tougher for us.”

This will be just Rekindled Alliance’s fourth career race start, with the Redoute’s Choice colt yet to finish worse than second.

Messara is confident that the three-year-old will be even bigger and better come next year’s autumn carnival.

“I think he deserves a shot (tomorrow) but he will be a force to be reckoned with in the autumn,” he said.

“It’s just disappointing the track will be the way it is otherwise he would have been right there at the finish.

“The weather may end up being the deciding factor in the race.”

Rekindled Interest has won one of his three race starts and has accrued more than $65,000 in prize money.
