Co-trainer trainer Peter Snowden and race jockey Kerrin McEvoy were both super impressed with Redzel’s sizzling hit out and said that the Snitzel gelding is ready to take on the best sprinters in the richest race on turf on the weekend.

“He was very sharp this morning (Tuesday) and worked very strongly,” Snowden said.

“He’s pulled up very well from the work and Kerrin (McEvoy) gave him an excellent report.

“He’s spot on for Saturday and I’m really happy with him. He’s had a good three weeks since his last start and we know he’s at his frightening best when a month between races.

“He looks well and I couldn’t be happier with how he worked this morning.

“We’re all hoping for a good result on Saturday.”

Redzel drew barrier four in the final twelve horse field for The Everest and Snowden can see the speedster taking up a forward position again as he has done at his previous four starts which all resulted with a win.

“It is a good draw, we’re very happy to be positioned there,” Snowden said.

“The horse has good gate speed in any case but there is the potential for a fair bit of speed in the race and barrier 4 gives us various options.

“It’s exciting heading into the weekend and the euphoria around the race has been huge. Let’s hope he can get the job done on Saturday!”

Redzel is the winner of his last four starts with three of them from the front while his last start win in the Group 2 $200,000 Bowermans Office Furniture Shorts (1100m) at Randwick on September 16 saw him sit at the girth of the leader Ball Of Muscle before surging away in the straight for a one and a quarter lengths victory.

Three starts back Redzel led all of the way with Jim Byrne in the saddle to win the Group 1 $700,000 James Boag’s Premium Doomben 10000 (1200m) at Doomben during the 2017 Brisbane Winter Carnival.

McEvoy then took over the reins for an all the way win in the Group 3 $150,000 Concorde Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on September 2 before Hugh Bowman steered him to victory in the Shorts.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Redzel is well in contention in the betting for The Everest with Ladbrokes.com.au having marked him at $7 behind Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign at $4.80, the first of the three Lindsay Park runners Vega Magic at $5.50 and Randwick 1200m specialist Chautauqua at $6.
