Lindsay Park head trainer David Hayes, who runs the operation with his son Ben and nephew Tom Dabernig, said that Redkirk Warrior had been targeted towards The Everest since the Autumn Carnival and now that he has been confirmed as a slot holder will be the one to beat.

“Redkirk Warrior has been targeted at The Everest since winning the Newmarket in March,’’ Hayes told The Daily Telegraph.

“He was dominant when he won the Bobbie Lewis and I expect him to be at his peak in The Everest. He will be the horse that everyone has to beat.”

Redkirk Warrior proved that he was an exceptional sprinter with a first up win in the Group 1 $1.25m Lexus Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington during the 2017 Melbourne Autumn Carnival and resumed form a spell for another first up win in the Group 2 $200,000 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington on September 16.

Stablemate Vega Magic has also been confirmed a contender for The Everest and will race for slot holder Max Whitby.

Vega Magic has won two Group 1 races for the Lindsay Park Team since arriving from Western Australia, the Group 1 $1m Darley Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville during the 2017 Autumn Carnival and the Group 1 $1m New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on September 2.
