Red Tracer’s George Ryder Stakes Odds Continue To Shorten

The 2014 George Ryder Stakes odds of Red Tracer have continued to shorten in the past 24 hours; with the successful wet-tracker now a clear favourite at a quote of $3.30.

Red Tracer is now available at 2014 George Ryder Stakes odds of $3.30 after being available at a significantly longer price earlier in the week.

Red Tracer was set to have her next race start in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on April 5, but trainer Chris Waller elected to include the daughter of Dane Shadow in the George Ryder Stakes field after the wave of wet weather hit Sydney earlier in the week.

The two-time Group 1 winner is arguably the best wet-tracker in Australia and has recorded eight wins from ten starts on rain-affected tracks; including three victories in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m), a win in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) and her maiden triumph at Group 1 level in the Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) in Brisbane last year.

Waller admits that the George Ryder Stakes was never on the agenda for Red Tracer, but believes that she is a genuine chance to record her maiden win in an open Group 1 event this weekend.

“It was an afterthought with her,” Waller said.

“She was set for the Emancipation next week, fillies and mares at set weights and penalties race, but when this weather changed for the worst at the start of the race we put a nom in.

“It is a $1 million race and I don’t like breaking my plans, but if she is a genuine chance on Saturday she will run.

“If it is a heavy track we know that she will handle it and a lot of them won’t.”

The Rosehill Gardens track is sure to be affected by rain, but Waller remains hopeful that the track will be rated in the slow range, rather than the heavy 8 that it was graded at this morning.

“I think it will be slow, but the better side of slow is what we will be hoping.

“(ATC General Manager Of Racecourses) Lindsay Murphy and (Rosehill Gardens Track Manager) Chris Toogood are pretty confident of that; provided this weather doesn’t change for the worst.

“It is a great track at Rosehill, there is plenty of grass, and I think that we will be having some fun on.”

Waller currently dominates the 2014 George Ryder Stakes betting markets; with Red Tracer favourite from stablemate Boban, who is available at George Ryder Stakes odds of $4.80, and Sacred Falls ($8.50).
