Ramornie Handicap next for I’ve Got The Looks

The Choisir mare kicked off her Winter campaign in sensational style with a first up win in the Listed $150,000 Better Than Ready Silk Stocking (1200m) at the Gold Coast on April 25.

I’ve Got The Looks then repeated that winning effort beating Dublin Lass and Traveston Girl in the Listed $100,000 Designline Graphics Juanmo Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on May 9.

Her winning run came to an end with a eighth to Peace Force in the Group 3 $150,000 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on May 23 but co-trainer Peter Snowden is expecting I’ve Got The Looks to bounce back to form in the Ramornie Handicap.

“She is in with a good chance and her form through the winter in Queensland was good,” Snowden told The Courier-Mail.

Snowden has freshened up the five year old mare following her three runs in Queensland and was happy with her work on Saturday morning.

“She had a freshen-up after her last start with an eye of always targeting this race and she worked very well (on Saturday) so I feel she is back in good order again,” Snowden said.

“She worked over 1000m and ran home the last 600m pretty solid and it was as good as she has ever worked.”

Snowden is ready to dismiss her last start failure as favourite in the Glenlogan Park Stakes and thinks she will be better suited at the 1200m in the Ramornie Handicap.

“She just got too far back last start and we wanted to be in first four or five and she was third last at one stage,” said Snowden.

“Back to 1200m is a different race and she is very well weighted.”

Stablemate Dothraki was allocated the equal top weight for the Ramornie Handicap with 59kg alongside side of the Rodney Northam trained Big Money but Snowden said that the Mossman gelding will be sent for a spell after finishing fifth to Haussman in the Listed $100,000 Civic Stakes (1350m) at Rosehill last Saturday.

I’ve Got The Looks will carry 54.5kg in the Ramornie Handicap and will then join Dothraki in the spelling paddock before being prepared for a Spring Carnival campaign.
