Royal Randwick Stakes

The 2015 Royal Randwick Stakes is a Group 3 race that takes place at the Royal Randwick racecourse in April each year.

Run over a distance of 1200m, the Royal Randwick Stakes forms part of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, and is run on Day 2 of The Championships. The race, which is open to two year old fillies and run under set weight plus penalty conditions, is worth $500,000 prize money.

The Royal Randwick Stakes, previously known as the Keith Mackay Handicap, was first run in 1960 when Primrose Lane seized victory. The Royal Randwick Stakes was elevated to Group 3 status in August 2013.

Taking place on Day 2 of The Championships, the Royal Randwick Stakes shares its race day with four massive Group 1 races; the Australian Oaks, the Queen of the Turf Stakes, the Sydney Cup and the $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Notable winners of the Royal Randwick Stakes include prolific broodmare Miss Prospect.
