Newcastle (Broadmeadow)

Newcastle Racecourse is located in the suburb of Broadmeadow in New South Wales. Also known as Broadmeadow Racecourse, Newcastle Racecourse is the social epicentre of its town. The track is operated by the Newcastle Jockey Club and is home to a total of 26 Saturday meeting per year, as well as the autumn and spring carnivals.

Newcastle Racecourse’s biggest race day each year is the renowned Boxing Day Races. The day is known as Newcastle’s biggest party and consistently attracts crowds of approximately 16,000 people. The day incorporates various forms of live entertainment with quality horse racing.

Major races that take place at Newcastle Racecourse each year include the Newcastle Newmarket Handicap, Cameron Handicap, Newcastle Gold Cup and the Newcastle Spring Stakes. The Cameron Handicap is a major lead-up race to the Epsom Handicap in Sydney, which takes place in March, while the 2,300 metre Newcastle Cup can be used as a worthwhile guide to the Melbourne Cup each year.

Newcastle Racecourse is also a premium location for all different types of events and functions, including weddings and receptions.
