TAB slot holder English will strip much fitter when she takes on the classy field of sprinters in the $10m The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 14.

Group 1 winning mare English has had one run back from a spell for a fourth to The Everest rival Redzel in the Group 2 $200,000 Bowermans Office Furniture Shorts (1100m) at Randwick on September 16 and co-trainer Adrian Bott said that she will benefit greatly fitness wise from that outing.
“That will bring her on enormously. It was just that race fitness, which Redzel had,” Bott told Racing New South Wales News Desk.
“We were caught a little wide and exposed but she held her ground. It was a good first up performance.”
“She needs that hard race fitness but taking a line through Chautauqua and Fell Swoop, they finished together so the form is still there.”
Melbourne Cup winning jockey Blake Shinn has been aboard English in five of her last six starts, including her last start fourth in The Shorts and he has been booked to ride the Encosta De Lago mare in The Everest.
English is already a proven Group 1 performer with a win in the Group 1 $600,000 Schweppes All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick during the 2016 Sydney Autumn Carnival.
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained mare then went within a whisker of winning her second Group 1 trophy when run down in the shadows of the post to be runner up to the Team Hawkes trained super sprinter Chautauqua.
Chautauqua will also be fitter for his eye catching first up seventh in the Shorts and has been installed as the early $5 favourite for The Everest at Ladbrokes.com.au while English is marked as a $13 chance.
On the second line of betting is the Lindsay Park trained Vega Magic at $5.50 just ahead of Redzel and the Gerald Ryan’s brilliant three year old Menari at $6.50.
