Randwick trainer Ron Quinton is finding it hard to split his two mares Dixie Blossoms and Daysee Doom who will line up against each other in the Group 2 $400,000 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Both mares are well in demand in the pre-race betting at Ladbrokes.com.au with Daysee Doom the more fancied at $5 just ahead of Dixie Blossom at $7.
And both mares are coming off a similar preparation of one run leading into the Golden Pendant with Daysee Doom finishing third in the Group 3 $125,000 Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on September 9 and Dixie Blossoms running fourth in the Group 2 $200,000 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) on the same day.
Quinton has reported that both mares have come through their first up runs in fine order and galloped strongly together on the Randwick course proper on Tuesday morning.
“I’m very happy with them. They got through their first run really, really good,” Quinton told AAP.
“Their work on the course proper was really, really good. I couldn’t be happier going into it.”
The step up in distance second up doesn’t worry Quinton with both Dixie Blossoms and Daysee Doom having won over the 1400m.
“Daysee won at Scone (Dark Jewel Classic) over 1400 so that won’t be posing any problems for her and Dixie has already won a mile at Randwick and run fourth in the Myer (Classic) at Flemington last spring,” Quinton said.
Quinton said that another trip to Melbourne during the Spring Carnival is on the cards for Dixie Blossoms and she might be joined this year by Daysee Doom for the Group 1 $500,000 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on November 4.
Dixie Blossoms just missed place in a blanket finish when fourth to I Am A Star in the 2016 Myer Classic.
“Dixie has been to Melbourne last year so it won’t faze her, and the other mare is pretty seasoned so it won’t bother her either if we go there with her,” Quinton said.
Dixie Blossoms will be ridden by Corey Brown again and will come into barrier seven while Daysee Doom will jump from gate ten in the Golden Pendant field that has been reduced to eleven runners on Thursday with the early scratchings of Euro Angel and Lubiton.
The Chris Waller trained Omei Sword heads the market order for the Golden Pendant at $4.40 at Ladbrokes.com.au just ahead of Bonny O’Reilly at $4.80, Daysee Doom at $5 and Dixie Blossoms at $7.
