#1 Green Moon- He has a 50% strike rate at this distance from eight starts and has had mixed success at the track. While he will no doubt be best suited to the Melbourne Cup, Green Moon is likely to be in the finish in the Cox Plate.

#2 Happy Trails- After a Turnbull Stakes win last start, Happy Trails will be looking to take his winning form into today’s race.

#3 Fiorente- While his major aim this spring is the Melbourne Cup, Fiorente is a big chance to salute in the Cox Plate and is proven at the track and the distance.

#4 Foreteller- He lacks experience at the track but has placed half the time at the distance.

#5 Side Glance- Having his first Australian race start in the Cox Plate, Side Glance is one of the biggest unknowns in the field.

#6 Seville- Hailing from the Lloyd Williams powerhouse, Seville won the Group 1 The Metropolitan last start and will be coming back from 2,400 metres in that race to a mile and a half.

#7 Rekindled Interest- His form has been up and down this preparation and he will have to really bring everything he has to today’s Cox Plate if he has a chance of winning.

#8 Puissance De Lune- Searching for his very first Group 1 start in Australia, Puissance De Lune has never placed worse than second over this distance but will be encountering the Valley for the first time.

#9 Masked Marvel- Coming off a second placing in the Group 3 Craven Plate last start, Masked Marvel has drawn ideally in barrier five for the Cox Plate.

#10 Mull Of Killough- Another international with no Australian form, he could be a surprise result in the race after some strong perfromances overseas this year.

#11 It’s A Dundeel- He has the form to beat and showed his gutsy will to win in the Underwood Stakes last start. A worthy favourite.

#12 Super Cool- Kavanagh’s sole chance after Atlantic Jewel’s scratching, Super Cool has flown under the radar but has impressive from at the track and distance.

#13 Atlantic Jewel-  Scratched

#14 Long John- He will look to do what stable mate Helmet could not last year; successfully complete the Caulfield Guineas and Cox Plate double. It will be the first time he has been extended past 1,600 metres.

#15 Shamus Award- He will have to become the first horse to win their first race in a Cox Plate and has also never been tested at the distance. Saying that, he has great form at Moonee Valley.
