The Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival could provide the toughest opposition for Black Caviar
While Peter Moody had no doubts in the ability of his superstar racing queen Black Caviar, he does admit to having his reservations about taking on a Queenslander filled field in this Saturday’s $400,000 BTC Cup.
Moody returns to his home state in the hope of claiming a 13th unbeaten win with Black Caviar this weekend, but knows more than most the fighting Queensland spirit he will have to contend with.
“I know Queenslanders love a challenge so if there is a little fear factor there, it’s because we could end up with a maximum field,” Moody said.
With 16 horses currently nominated for the BTC Cup, it looks more than likely that Black Caviar will have to compete against a capacity field when she takes to the track at Doomben Racecourse.
Black Caviar has not had a run since the TJ Smith Stakes five weeks ago, however, Moody doesn’t expect that to hinder her performance in the slightest as she attempts to wow the Queensland crowd.
“My mare has had five weeks between runs but she has really enjoyed the break away from racing,” Moody said.
“To this point, she has had only the one gallop since the TJ Smith Stakes but the trip up here tightened her up a bit, she let down well during the week and really pleased with her work.”
