Exciting colt Pyrrolic is set to return to the races in the 2014 Autumn Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday after a respiratory issue ruled him out of the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival.

Pyrrolic made his racing debut with a dominant three lengths win over Boer and Shooting Sally in the Catanach’s Jewellers Plate (1200m) at Sandown on May 15, but a recurring problem with mucus meant that he did not have a race start since the spring.
Trainer Michael Kent told Racing Ahead this morning that he believes Pyrrolic has plenty of talent and is forward enough to run a big race in the Autumn Stakes this weekend.
“Pyrrolic is a horse that has a lot of ability,” Kent said.
“He was thawted in the spring by a respiratory issue; he would keep getting mucus and we never ran him over the spring.
“I am looking forward to seeing him get back to the races.
“He is a horse with a bit of scope I think.”
Kent is the only trainer with multiple runners in the 2014 Autumn Stakes; with Accord also set to have his second race start in the Group 2 event after winning the SKM Recyling Plate (1600m) on debut at Moonee Valley on October 4.
Accord has been included in the nominations for both the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) and Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) and Kent said that the Dubawi colt will be much stronger when given an opportunity to step-up in trip.
“Accord is a horse that is desperate for long distance and this is too short for him,” Kent said.
“I am looking forward to getting him up in trip and this is the right race to start him out in because it fits in with his program going forward.”
Pyrrolic is currently on the fifth line of the 2014 Autumn Stakes betting market at Ladbrokes at odds of $8.50, with Accord just behind at a quote of $10 and Kent agrees that Pyrrolic is his best winning chance in the Group 2 event.
“I think that it is too short for Accord,” Kent said.
“Pyrrolic has won over six furlongs and he will be hitting the line pretty strongly I think.”
Kent is chasing his first win at Group level since Philippi, who is now trained by Casper Fownes in Hong Kong, took out the 2013 Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) at Moonee Valley.
