Australian jockey Zac Purton hopes to continue on his winning way at Sha Tin on Sunday in the The Group 1 Chairman’s Sprint.

Purton is back aboard the Danny Chum trained Little Bridge in the HK$4.5m  1200m Sprint replacing French jockey Gerald Mosse.

Mosse has ridden Little Bridge at his last three starts including a win at Sha Tin three starts back but opted for the ride on Sacred Kingdom this weekend.

Purton has ridden Sacred Kingdom at his last three starts, but is happy to be back on Little Bridge.

“I think the owners of Sacred Kingdom wanted to try Gerald again and I’m only too pleased to be back on Little Bridge,” said Purton, who has partnered Little Bridge to six wins from eleven rides.

“I think he has gone up to a new level this season, showing he’s as good as any sprinter around and I didn’t think I would get back on him so soon, but I am very thankful to the owners and Danny.”

Purton is riding on a crest of a wave and climbing up the Honk Kong jockey table after a winning treble at Happy Valley on Wednesday night.

“Last season Little Bridge reached a point in his campaign where he started to hit a bit of a flat spot and, from my reading of it, he has been doing something similar again lately. Maybe the blinkers would help him over that,” Purton said.

Purton was happy with Little Bridge’s work during the week after Shum decided to try blinkers on the five year old and is sure this will help him lift enough to race well on Sunday.

Mosse is no stranger to Sacred Kingdom and has four Group wins on the Horse of the Year including the Hong Kong sprint in 2007.
