Prussian Secret has broken down after suffering a fetlock injury, forcing him out of next Saturday’s $150,000 Grafton Cup.

The six-year-old gelding, who is becoming one of the biggest winners of Australian country cups, will now be sent for a spell.

Trainer Leon Davies was disappointed that Prussian Secret would not get the chance to contest his next title.

“He has chipped bones in his fetlock,” Davies said.

“It’s a shame, it would have been nice to have a crack at the Grafton Cup. “

Davies is choosing to look on the bright side, understanding that the injury could have been much worse.

“But it could have been worse, it could have been a tendon,” he said.

“Luckily we caught it early but he’ll have to go out for three to six months.”

Prussian Secret has won 11 of his 31 starts and has earned more than $170,000 in prize money.

The King Of Prussia gelding won the Quirindi Cup, Wellington Cup and Gunnedah Cup this season and finished third last start in the Ipswich Provincial Cup in June.

Davies will still be represented in the Grafton Carnival by Sarah’s Son who will run in the James Kirby Handicap on Grafton Cup Day.
