The connections of Prompt Return have paid the late entry fee to include the smart two year old in the nomination’s list for the 2015 Group 1 $1m Sportingbet Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield in February.

Prompt Return is a winner at his only two starts and after breaking his maiden at Bendigo on October 18 went to Flemington to record a very impressive two lengths win in the Group 3 $150,000 racing.com Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) on November 8.

Prompt Return will go around again on Saturday at Ballarat in the $200,000 Magic Millions Clockwise Classic (1000m) in preparation for the $2m BMW Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast in January.

And while trainer Danny O’Brien will concentrate on the getting the Beneteau colt ready for the rich Gold Coast two year old race, connections were prepared to pay the $5,500 late entry fee to the Melbourne Racing Club.

“He is a very nice colt,” O’Brien said after Prompt Return’s win at Flemington.

“Historically a very good form guide for the two-year-old season.”

Prompt Return is the standout youngster in the nine horse two year old Magic Millions Clockwise Classic field which is restricted to Magic Millions Sales graduates and is run in a clockwise direction to give the young horses experience racing that way before heading to the Gold Coast who race in the opposite direction to Victoria.

“He’s had a gallop that way and we do a lot of slow work the Sydney way. Most horses handle the change in direction,” O’Brien said.

“He seems really good. He came out of Flemington in good order and he was very bright last week — we have no reason not to take him there on Saturday.”

Jockey James Winks will again be aboard Prompt Return after partnering the colt in his two wins to date and will jump from gate seven in the nine horse field
