Prompt Response went into the Twilight Glow Stakes as a clear favourite following her very close second in the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m) at Flemington on November 1 and a perfect Damien Oliver ride helped her get the job done for favourite punters.

Oliver said that he was able to get a lovely passage into the race just behind the leading pair and he was impressed with the turn of foot that the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained filly showed in the final stages of the race Twilight Glow Stakes.

“It was nice to get a good trail,” Oliver said.

“They didn’t go hard, she came through on the inside and she gave a great kick and held them off.

“I have had a bit of luck for Gai and it is nice to get a winner for Adrian with the partnership now too.

“They have had a good carnival down here.”

Prompt Response started her 2016 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a close fourth in the Group 3 Scarborough Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on September 23 and she was not beaten far in the Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on October 8, the Listed Crockett Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day and the Lexus Hybrid Plate.

Stable representative Emma Pearce said after the race that Prompt Response is unlucky not to have already won multiple black-type races and she believes that the Benetau filly is most deserving of her Twilight Glow Stakes win.

“She is probably one of the most deserving horses in our stable to have a Stakes win,” Pearce said.

“She has raced brilliantly all preparation and how she is not a multiple Stakes winner already is beyond me.

“She is a really, really tough filly and I think that you will see plenty more from her.

“I think we can step her up from here and there are many more wins to come.”

Heart The Chant died on her run late, but she was still able to finish second, while Petition absolutely stormed home in the final stages of the race for an eye-catching third.
