Prince Harada aiming for Caulfield Guineas

Caulfield trainer Tony Vasil doesn’t think he is over stepping the mark talking up Prince Harada as a Caulfield Guineas three year old in the Spring.

“I think he is pretty special,” Vasil said.

Prince Harada did what he had to do when Vasil took him to Ballarat for an impressive two and a quarter length first up win and is anxiously awaiting for the two year old to make his city debut at Moonee Valley tomorrow.

Vasil is expecting the son of his former topliner Haradasun to step out in the $80,000 Alternate Railway Handicap (1200m) better for his trip to the races at Ballarat and is expecting him to stamp himself a star in the making.

“He seems more focused. He looks in terrific order and I’m just really looking forward to him running on Saturday,” Vasil said.

Top Melbourne jockey Steven Arnold will again be aboard Prince Harada and Vasil is hoping for a glowing report from the experienced jockey.

With the benefit of two runs and hopefully two wins under his belt, Vasil will spell Prince Harada after Saturday and progress with his plan towards the Group 1 $1m BECK Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 12.

Vasil is hoping that Prince Harada will repeat the deeds of his sire Haradasun who he prepared to win twice at Group 1 level in 2007, the Group 1 $400,000 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill and the Group 1 $2m Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick.

Haradasun was then transferred to top Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien and went on to win the 2008 Group 1 £350,000 The Queen Anne Stakes (1 mile) at Royal Ascot.

Prince Harada will spend some time at Peter Morgan’s property at Whittlesea and will utilize the water walker as part of his pre-training before heading back to Caulfield.

“I’ll probably put him up there for a couple of weeks because it’s expecting too much to continue right through and think he could stay up all this time and have a horse at his prime for the Spring,” Vasil said.

In early pre-post markets Prince Harada has been posted the $2 favourite to remain undefeated from two starts with Wodonga winner I’m Ready For This at $6 and the Peter Snowden trained Boer at $6.50.
