Trainer Mick Price admits that he is worried undefeated juvenile Pressing will be giving Brazen Beau too much of a start in the 2014 BRC Sires Produce Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.

Pressing came from towards the tail of the field to record wins in the Mindy Green Plate (1200m) at Caulfield on April 12 and the Listed Sky High Mt Dandenong Stakes (1200m) at the same venue on May 3, while Brazen Beau raced close to the speed when he scored an impressive win in the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben on May 10.
“The only thing about that race is that he gets back and Chris Waller’s horse will be up there and he has a pretty strong finishing burst on him and we won’t want to be giving that sort of horse too big a start,” Price told Racing Ahead.
“I am just hoping that in his first try over 1350 that he is starting to round them up at the top of the straight because he won’t want to be giving him too big a run.
“I am sure that he will run well, but it is just a matter of what happens in the race tomorrow, but he is going great and I am really happy.”
While Price is worried about how the BRC Sires Produce Stakes may play out tomorrow, he said that he could not be happier with the way that Pressing has settled in to his new environment in Brisbane.
Pressing produced a strong piece of work in Brisbane earlier in the week and Price is confident that the son of Sebring will be running home strongly and take plenty of benefit out of the run ahead of the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 7.
“He is going great and I think that it was a really good idea that we were able to fly them up,” Price said.
“It was six hours door to door and he has had two runs in his first prep, so I didn’t want him get dragged out by a float on the road and I think that really helped him.
“He has gone to Tony Gollan’s and he has done really worked.
“He worked on the course proper with Jazz Song, who is a three-year-old and a good worker, and Pressing is a very lazy worker, but I had a look at the video of them working and I thought that Pressing was very good to the line.
“Jimmy Byrne rode him and thought that he worked really well and said he feels more like a three-year-old.”
Pressing is currently available at 2014 BRC Sires Produce Stakes odds of $6, while Brazen Beau has been very well-backed with Ladbrokes Australia and is priced at a quote of $2.20.
